Sketchbook Saturday #1

Welcome friends to my little corner of the internet and my first ever sketchbook blog!  Here I'll let you get a peak at some of sketchbook spreads, what goes on in my mind to create the things I do, and occasionally some things I'm really into. It's also a place for me to just yap. 

I thought that for my first post I would introduce y'all to some  in the works projects I've been working on this summer. This summer I did a lot more art projects than I was ever expecting. 

Currently Im working on a few art things on top of being a student. I just submitted one of my story ideas for an open call hosted by Nickelodeon. I  hope with all my heart that I get approved for a pitch, because how exciting would it be to have an animated show on Nickelodeon? 

I got my first freelance illustration job that wasn't from a friend or family member! I'm illustrating a children's book about George Washington carver and I was so grateful to get the job. Surprisingly enough I got it just from starting up a conversation with a girl who liked my shirt! My deadline for that is soon so that project has been taking up the majority of my time. 

I have been also working on the comic for my story Helix! This has taken a back seat to my freelance work but I've posted some of it up on webtoon. I also heard a song recently that I would love to animate a scene of Helix to and I drew out the story board for it (Stick round and I may or may not share it next week) 

And of course I am constantly thinking about the other stories I could make. There are 2 other stories ideas that have floating around in my head and about 4 more that I've jotted down quickly and stowed away for later use. 

This summer taught me a lot about working on lengthy projects, I'm excited to share my progress with y'all. I hope you enjoyed reading this little snippet of my art journey.
