Sketchbook Saturday #4

February 22nd 2025

One month check in on my art goals for this year, and a dilema

me trying to brainstorm for the Forgotten Lands open call - ink

Hi y'all!

Happy Saturday! It's been a little bit into the new year hasn't it?, Some days have gone by. Let's take a look to see how we are doing on our art goals or goals in general. And also as reminder to ourselves to keep at it as this is around the time when most people start giving up on goals.

So I had two main goals for this year:

And here are the things I have done with these goals in mind so far:

And three things in the near future (next two weeks) that I am going to accomplish with these goals in mind:

So I have been doing a little bit. And even despite the outcomes of my attempts, all of my submissions were rejected 🥲🥲, I still did work towards my goal which is its own accomplishment.

We aren't without dilemma though! I am having difficulty coming up with ideas and concepts for artwork for the two open calls 😬! I've also had difficulty completing artwork beyond a sketch. And I'm also having trouble accomplishing my deadlines, both for art and school. I will perservere though!!

Anyway, from me to you keep working on your goals!!

Both the Kadokawa contest and the Forgotten Lands call are due the 28th (The Forgotten Lands call was extended ✨). So next week I'll post a Sketchbook Saturday going over what I worked on, both because it is interesting and to hold some accountability for myself.

I hope you are having fun working on your goals, until next time!

À  bientôt (see you soon)

P.S.  Some things I currently 💖love💖 right now:

Reytorra's Journal with me livestreams!- Her art is so cutie and she's working really hard to create a amazing art community, check out her work

Lehuauakea's artwork - Their artwork is so so so so cool!! I wish I had the words to describe how cool their artwork is. They are one of my favorite artist of all time. One of Lehuauakea's pieces is on display for the Hawai'i Triennial 2025, the state’s largest, thematic exhibition of contemporary art from Hawai‘i, the Pacific, and beyond. Its called "Still Finding My Way Back Home" you can hear a little bit about it here, from a snippet of Hawai'i Public Radio. One day I hope I can like, be their mentee or like learn from them, I just think they are so cool. So go - don't walk, run! to check out their artwork.

Soy Garlic Korean Fried Chicken - its really good!
